The Clockmaker's Locked Rooms
Every lock in the city of Bellhaven is made by the Hartley workshop, so when a jewel vanishes from a sealed vault, the police come to the clockmaker. They get his apprentice instead: Ada Hartley, sixteen, who hears gears turning where others see nothing. Every locked room is a machine, and every machine can be taken apart.
